150th Anniversary of Servite Presence in London

In September 2014 our Prior General, Fr Gottfried Wolff OSM and his General Council together with Prior Provincials and Superiors from around the world assembled in London for their International meeting and also for the celebration of the 150th Anniversary of Servite presence in London and the English-speaking world.

As part of the celebrations, a dinner and concert was held at St Mary’s University, Twickenham on Friday 12th September

On Sunday 14th September our Archbishop, Cardinal Vincent Nichols presided over the 12.15 p.m. Mass which was followed by a lunch for all present in the School Hall and Marquees. It was well attended by our parishioners.

On Monday 15th September our Prior General, Fr Gottfried Wolff presided over the 6.30 p.m. Mass, which was followed by a Reception in the School Hall for those present. The celebration of the Feast of Our Lady of Sorrows was also well supported by our parishioners.

Some photographs from our celebrations and remembrance of the arrival of the Servite Friars in London and the English-speaking world 150 years ago can be found in our 150th Anniversary Celebrations Photo Gallery.

Fr Chris O’Brien has collated and published a booklet on the history of 150 years of Servite life in London and the English-speaking world.

We thank everyone for their support in making the celebrations a success and a time of joy, gratitude and great faith.
